Seize Good Offers That Come Your Way

I like certain companies because they make good offers that reward loyal members. Costco is one of these organizations. I pay $100 each year for the Executive membership. Many might think that it's too much compared to the regular membership that's around $40, but I beg to differ. There's a team of people at Costco that are always looking for new ways to reward their Executive members far beyond what they offer their regular members.

Here's a current example: If you open a new online savings account with Capital One (with a minimum deposit of $5,000), they'll give regular members a $20 bonus. Ho hum. But if you're an Executive member you'll get a bonus of $60. That's triple the regular bonus and 60% of my annual membership fee just for parking my money somewhere. On top of that Capital One's online savings account is now paying 3.75% interest if you park 10k or more with them. That's quite a bit better than ING Direct with whom I have a current online account with and almost better than Provident CU's Super Rewards Checking account, which pays around 4% the last time I checked.

Now this offer might not be for you for a variety of reasons. But my point is that you need to pay attention to good offers that come your way and seize the opportunity when they do. My wife recently signed up for a new United Visa from Chase because the offer was too good to pass up.

They offered her 40,000 miles all together after we jump through a few easy hoops. Miles have an average value of 2 cents per. At that rate 40,000 is worth $800! Isn't that worth getting a new credit card for? It was for us.

There are good companies out there that REALLY want your business and they're willing to pay you to give it to them. When it makes sense for you, go for it.
